12K

My workout partner and I ran our first 12K this weekend. Here's what I know:

  • I didn't collapse running the longest distance in my life

  • How much faster I ran (finished 1 hour 28 minutes)

  • How many young kids participated (I hope my boys will want to do this in the future)

  • How many people wore bad/wrong shoes for running

  • How many people stopped for an ice cream bar in the middle of the run?!

  • How much my arms hurt (now I know why distance runners have such nice arms)

  • How quickly I said "Now we train for a half-marathon"

I couldn't have done this race without the support of my lovely husband. He made it possible for me to train by looking after our children and for working so hard so I could get the help in achieving this feat. This run was huge for me because I am afraid of large crowds being so short and how out-of-shape I was...

Last but not least, I couldn't do this without God. Thank you God for looking out for me.

Husband? Where Art Thou?!

My lovely is once again traveling for work but this time for the entire week. UUGGHHH!! How do single parents do it? I hate it when he is out of town. Although in lovely's defense, he really didn't want to go to this conference because he has to give a presentation on the last day of the conference. That means, no relief of the knot in his tummy until the curtain closes on the final day. Gross!!! Public speaking is worst than trying to lose 30 lbs.

Although one up side of having an engineer for a husband, he practices his presentation with you, you won't ever have trouble going to sleep. I wasn't sleepy before he started but the topic is so far from anything that interests me (like Physics...), I was nodding off and yawning afterwards. This topic was like a sleeping pill for me. I told him I couldn't work for his company because I wouldn't be able to stay awake long enough to get any work done. I wouldn't feel good about cheating a company out like that.

Hurry home and be safe husband.

Update on my boys

Koo striking a pose.

S.E. enjoying the snow.

My little boys must be on a growing spurt. They have been waking up hungry and eating most of whatever I serve for breakfast. Right now their favorite is oatmeal drizzled with maple syrup and bacon (they dip the bacon in the oatmeal). This new way of eating has been beneficial to them too because they have been eating more vegetables and whole grain. They don't get too much sugar in their diet and soda is a once a month treat so I'm not overly concerned.

As for a potty training update on little Koo, he has been doing his business by himself all the time and and only had one oops because when he goes #2, he gets on and off so fast he doesn't get all of it out. We are working on patience. He gets so excited to see his little "nuggets" (TMI huh?).

As for Lovely Husband, he's been having a sinus infection on and off for over two months and for a week or so there it went away but reared its ugly head again. It makes his head hurt and he gets sluggish and drained. Poor hubby.

Welcome Lucas

My oldest sister had her third baby today weighing in at 9 lbs. 4 oz. and 21 in. Big baby. Interesting enough, her three kids are about seven years apart. That means getting through the baby-no-sleep phase, getting them potty trained, send them off to public school-then do it all over again. Twice.

My boys are 20 months apart and in a lot of ways I love it because they play well together, fight well together, but most importantly all the phases run into together because they not only learn from each other but it seems like it's still fresh in my mind. I don't know what's best-just what I know. Overall, I have really enjoyed staying home and getting to know my boys.

I pray for health and sleep for my sister and newest baby nephew.

4.4 lbs!!

4.4 lbs. loss and a lot more to go.

I lost 4.4 lbs this week and I don't feel like I've been robbed of food-my stomach did rumble a few times but it was because I didn't recognize that those were the moments when I was vunerable to snack and overeat. As soon as I snapped out of it by doing something else and drinking water, I was able to logically think of a better food choice.

I was a little shocked by two things: how much I used to eat and how much I eat now. Duh!!! I was surprised at how much weight I lost this week just because I've had a lot of things that would cause me to flub up on my diet. My son's birthday was a celebration to go out to eat ( I made allowances and good food selection), friends over to eat (cooked more vegetables and ate less), and my family member health declining. I am leaving to go see my Grandma over on the Pacific coast. She is 93 years old and she is not doing well at all. She's not eating. Panic. I just pray that God will help us travel safe and for us to spend as much time with Grandma. Will update as the situation progresses.

Introducing the LOVES of my life...

Being new to the blog-o-sphere world, I have been tossing over how much information to give regarding my family. However, I can't talk about coffeemakers all day and not talk about the loves of my life: my lovely husband and our sons (S.E. and Koo). They are the a la mode on my pie, the pep in my step, the caramel center of a Milky Way candy bar, the reason I get up each day and try harder (you get the idea). I am totally over the moon about my husband and boys.

God knew exactly what I needed when he decided to bless my with my LOVES to teach me about patience, love, not living on a set schedule or plan, and gives me a dose of "God got me back" whenever I think I'm in control. Why did I put Patience first-because that's the character trait that I lack the most. In my world, everything can be done quicker. I will know that God will truly get me back if I get to be paired up with a slug in heaven. Can't I get to this blog page faster?!
